v0.52.0.0 → v0.54.0.0New

Each belief now files under an idea from the same passage.

Changed

  • Each belief now files under an idea from the same passage.

When Selah reads your notes it identifies the ideas in each passage, and beliefs found there now attach to one of those same ideas — never to a look-alike from elsewhere in your library. The old matching compared a whole page against short idea labels across everything you'd written; almost nothing cleared the bar, so Belief Maps stayed nearly empty, and what did match could file under the wrong idea. Tested on real sermons, the new matching filed every sampled belief correctly.

  • Canceling your plan now asks why you're leaving.

A short list of reasons — including "Prefer not to say" — appears before the cancellation goes through at selah.so/settings/billing.

Added

  • Your Belief Map now quotes you.

Selah reads your notes for the convictions in them and shows each one with the sentence you actually wrote. The machinery for this shipped weeks ago but was never switched on — nothing had ever called it, so no belief in the app had a quote behind it. It runs now, and it copies your words exactly rather than paraphrasing them, because a paraphrase is how "belief in Jesus demands an ethical standard" quietly becomes "Jesus is an ethical standard."

  • Notes that record someone else's teaching stay out of your beliefs.

A note marked Book, Podcast, or Conversation, or one attributed to another teacher, is a record of what they said. Selah skips those before it spends anything reading them, so an author's convictions never end up filed as yours.

Fixed

  • Editing a note no longer leaves a belief quoting a sentence that's gone.

Editing a note rebuilds it behind the scenes, and beliefs drawn from the old version were left pointing at text that no longer existed — while still looking completely normal on screen. Removing a note's pieces is now one operation everywhere, so the beliefs drawn from them are always cleaned up with them.

  • Marking a note as someone else's now takes back the beliefs drawn from it.

If Selah read a note as your own and later you mark it a Book, a Podcast, a Conversation, or someone else's teaching, the beliefs it drew from that note are withdrawn. Re-labelling a note is you saying it isn't yours, and what Selah concluded from it should go too. The note itself stays, and stays searchable.

  • Facts Selah couldn't index are now repaired automatically.

When indexing a remembered fact failed, the fact was kept but became invisible: the companion couldn't recall it and it could never become part of your Belief Map. Nothing ever retried. On our own data 105 facts were sitting in that state. Selah now sweeps for them and re-indexes them on its own.

  • Status, folder, and Kind dropdowns had no styling.

A June refactor that unified those three pickers behind one <OptionSetPicker> component renamed their CSS classes to .opt-picker*, but a later merge conflict in #719 silently reverted globals.css back to the old, now-orphaned class names — so every dropdown built on the shared picker rendered as a plain unstyled list. Restored the .opt-picker rules.

  • Start trial could hang after you entered your card.

Checkout couldn't always work out where you were, and without that it had no way to compute tax or finish the trial — the button just sat there. It now always asks for your billing address, so trial signup completes every time.

v0.51.0.0New

You can tell Selah when it gets a belief wrong.

Added

  • You can tell Selah when it gets a belief wrong.

Every belief on your map now shows where it came from — the note it was drawn from and the year you wrote it — with a "Not quite right" control beside it. One tap removes it, on web and on iPhone. A belief you've corrected stays corrected: it won't quietly come back the next time Selah re-reads your work.

  • Selah can now find what you believe in your sermons, not just in conversation.

It reads your writing for the convictions you actually state, quoting your own sentence rather than paraphrasing it — because a paraphrase is how "belief in Jesus demands a lived ethical standard" turns into "Jesus is one." What you're arguing against, quoting from someone else, or still wrestling with is treated differently from what you assert.

  • Your beliefs are drawn from the passage that argues them.

Concept summaries and excerpts now search across everything you've ever written and pull the section that speaks to that belief — a sermon from ten years ago competes on merit with one from last week.

Fixed

  • Selah was building your beliefs out of your introductions.

Summaries took the opening of each note, which for a sermon is the illustration — a film reference, a news story, a joke. A decade of preaching could be summarized from twenty openings. It now reads the passage that carries the doctrine.

  • Nothing had been added to any Belief Map since 24 June.

The step that files a belief under the right topic searched a field that was never filled in, so it silently found nothing, for everyone. Beliefs are being filed again.

  • Notes about other people stay about other people.

Prayer entries and pastoral-care notes no longer feed your Belief Map, and a book, podcast, or recorded conversation is treated as someone else's teaching rather than your own conviction.

  • An empty Belief Map explains itself

instead of looking like Selah doesn't know you, and a filtered map says so rather than looking empty.

v0.49.7.0 → v0.49.8.0

Heartbeat and daily-devotional chats no longer crowd the companion list forever.

Fixed

  • Heartbeat and daily-devotional chats no longer crowd the companion list forever.

Unanswered ambient nudges soft-archive about an hour after they land, so you still have time to reply in the same thread. The transcript and anything Selah already learned stay; Restore brings the sitting back.

  • Word study opens even when a highlight panel is open.

Tapping a word for Strong's no longer waits for you to dismiss the highlight UI first.

  • Companion status language is consistent.

Menus say Open / Done / Archived — never “Closed” — with Mark as done, Archive, and a delete confirm that keeps learned memory while removing the transcript. The Stream companion session drawer has the same status controls.

Changed

  • Filtering your notes is simpler.

Status filters (All, Exploring, On hold, Resolved) are now quick-tap chips at the top of your notes list. A single Filter button handles folder and kind in one place — no more separate dropdowns.

v0.49.5.2 → v0.49.6.0

A word that reads the same in two translations now connects between them.

Fixed

  • A word that reads the same in two translations now connects between them.

In CSB John 1:26 "answered" is the same word KJV uses, but tapping it opened the KJV fallback instead of going straight to the Greek. Words in a quote that a translation moves — "'I baptize with water,' John answered them" versus "John answered them, saying, 'I baptize with water'" — now match.

  • Production build for Primary/Compare translation slots.

The note column referenced a translation that was never passed into the editor, so Vercel typecheck failed and selah.so stayed on the previous release.

  • On phone and tablet, reader pane tabs name the translation

(e.g. "John 1 · WEB") so two panes of the same chapter are easy to tell apart.

Changed

  • Translation picker header is one row.

"Pick translation" sits on the left; the settings gear sits on the right. The old empty footer is gone.

Added

  • Primary and Compare Bible translations.

Set two favourites in Settings (web and iOS). The reader opens the first pane in your Primary edition, and a second column uses Compare instead of guessing.

  • Cold-load and Telegram scripture links honour your Primary translation

when the link does not already name one.

  • The translation picker marks your Primary and Compare favourites

with quiet P / S labels, and a gear opens Study settings on the web.

v0.49.4.0

Whole passages were missing from CSB, NASB and NLT.

Fixed

  • Whole passages were missing from CSB, NASB and NLT.

Nehemiah 7 showed 33 of its 73 verses; Ezra 2, Nehemiah 12, and the 1 Chronicles genealogies were cut the same way, with no error and nothing to indicate anything was absent. Every one of those chapters now reads in full.

  • The book of Nahum was entirely unavailable

in those three translations — every chapter failed to load.

  • Word study and cross-translation highlights now work in CSB, NASB and NLT.

Tap a word and get the Greek or Hebrew; a highlight made in KJV shows the matching words. Previously both were blank in every licensed translation.

  • Some Old Testament verses were numbered wrong, and a handful of chapters wouldn't open at all.

Jonah briefly gained a phantom verse 17 that doesn't exist in any English Bible, and chapters like Malachi 4 failed to load outright. Both are fixed.

  • Stray `#` characters and missing spaces in CSB, NASB and NLT text.

Psalm 23:4 rendered as "I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff #— #they comfort me." Both artifacts are gone.

v0.49.3.3

Reader errors from the Bible text provider really are filtered now.

Fixed

  • Reader errors from the Bible text provider really are filtered now.

Yesterday's filter did not match the real error and 31 more were recorded across two readers before the morning check caught it.
