Selah is a Bible-study workspace operated by Benske & Co. We try to collect as little as we can, keep it secure, and never sell it. This page explains what we store and why.
What we collect
- Account — your email and name, to sign you in and reach you.
- Your study content — the notes, captures, prayers, reading-plan progress, and companion conversations you create in the app. This is yours.
- Telegram — if you connect Telegram, your chat ID, so we can deliver your reading and save your replies.
- Billing — if you subscribe to Plus, your subscription status. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Usage — basic product analytics (pages viewed, features used) and error reports, to fix problems and improve the app. We do not collect the content of your notes or conversations for analytics.
How we use it
To run the product: sign you in, store and show your study, deliver your daily reading, power the AI companion, process your subscription, send you essential account email, and keep the service working and secure. We do not use your study content to train AI models.
The AI companion
When you talk with the companion, the relevant parts of your message and your saved study are sent to our model provider (Anthropic) to generate a reply, then returned to you. The companion is scoped to your own study — it does not browse the open web. Anthropic processes this data under its commercial terms and does not train on it.
Services we rely on
We share data with these processors only as needed to run Selah:
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Neon — database hosting (your study content).
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic — the AI companion and devotional generation.
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
- Telegram — message delivery, if you connect it.
- Resend — transactional and account email.
- PostHog & Sentry — privacy-conscious product analytics and error monitoring.
Data retention
We keep your study content for as long as your account is active. Delete your account and we delete your data (some records may persist briefly in backups before they expire). You can export your notes as Markdown at any time.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. Email hello@selah.soand we'll help. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR or CCPA; we honor those requests.
Account and product email is part of the service. Marketing or retention email includes a one-click unsubscribe in every message, which we honor immediately.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our hosting providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your study and limit access to it.
Children
Selah is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
